The AVIA D Series vehicles are highly adaptable. They feature a number of body options but are even capable to respond to a special demand of customers that may order a tailor-made vehicle. The AVIA chassis can serve for a special body used by firemen or police corps, 4x4 drive vehicle and, last but not least, a so-called super-long vehicle. It is a vehicle with an extended body to transfer long or light bulky materials.
In addition, there are also other on-going development programs. A change in the braking system is one of the technically sophisticated issues that are recently under development. The AVIA D Series vehicles are still equipped with an air-hydraulic braking system; however, the manufacture should be prepared for a system that is fully based on air. Another new development to be implemented in the autumn this year is to increase the power of the CUMMINS engines up to 125 kW. The AVIA D Series vehicles are comfortable in any direction and fully meet the needs of our customers. The excellent use and driving characteristics; advanced cab design; ergonomically designed driver area; or low running costs: these are only some of the benefits of the AVIA vehicles. The customership can select from a wide range of accessories, from air conditioning in the cab through tinted glass or electrical window control up to a central lock.
The main features of the AVIA vehicles include the following:
- Highly attractive outside/inside cab design;
- Simple general construction of the vehicle containing a minimum of electronics;
- Optimized suspension by the parabolic springs that ensures a balanced compromise between the driving stability and comfort even on poorer roads, and forms a pre-requisite for a satisfactory service life of the chassis parts (i.e. wheel bearings, front axle steering pin mounting, etc.);
- Heavy-duty frame construction and axle suspension;
- Longer axle base and shorter overhangs while maintaining the length of the commercial body, which further improves driving characteristics and comfort;
- High performance braking system, which still allows for a sensitive brake control;
- General coordination of the braking system, which forms a base for a long life service of the wheel brakes and allows for a safety control even when ABS is out of order;
- Option to use both so-called small wheels (17.5“) and big wheels (19.5“), or 9.5R17.5 tyres in a so-called light series, i.e. D60-D100 (Such benefit enlarges the vehicle’s headway.); The competitors mostly offer only the „small “wheels in the light series, and „big“wheels in the heavy series;
- The vehicles are supplied inclusive of side-guard beams, rear bumpers and mud-guards, which is not available in some competitors and must be solved by the body designers;
- Spacious sleeping cab for long-distance operations;
- Key vehicle units come from the large global manufacturers such as ZF (gear-box, power steering, clutch), Albion Automotive (axles), Cummins (engines), Styria (suspension), Dana (clutch shaft), Wabco (braking system), etc.;
- Cheaper maintenance costs and lower part prices;
- Favourable fuel consumption.
This brief reference to the fruitful history of the Company from Letňany tried to recall the values that have supported the Company’s past and present success, and are essential for the future as well. Let us believe that the AVIA truck brand will remain a quality member of the Czech automotive industry.
