Prague - As of 1 May 2012, Tomáš Jiřička is appointed the COO of Avia Ashok Leyland Motors s.r.o. (AALM). Mr Jiřička had worked as AALM’s CFO before. Until his withdrawal in September 2011, Marcus Pauels was the COO and the position had not been occupied since then.
Tomáš Jiřička (40) graduated from the University of Economics in Prague and before joining the Avia truck manufacturer in Letňany he held several positions in the automotive industry. Between 1999 and 2001 he was the financial controller in Kautex Textron Bohemia spol. s r.o., Kněžmost (Czech branch of one of the Top 100 largest manufacturers of plastic components for the automotive industry). Then, between 2001 and 2005, he was the Finance and Administrative Director and Chief Clerk of Alfmeier CZ s.r.o., Plzeň (a leading European supplier of plastic parts for the automotive industry). In 2005 and 2006, he was the CFO at HP Pelzer, k.s., Plzeň (one of the leading suppliers of acoustic insulating materials for the automotive industry). In November 2006 he was appointed the CFO in AALM. “He will continue to hold this position, in parallel with his new function of the COO. During his assignment in Avia Ashok Leyland Motors, Tomáš Jiřička was also in charge of the department of after-sales services for three years, and since last June he has also been responsible for the corporation’s sales, marketing and finances, as one of the company’s three directors. His work with AALM was marked with success in foreign markets and his contribution to our successful growth in the Russian market”, said Michael Bačkovský, head of marketing and after-sales service of Avia Ashok Leyland Motors.
Since 2006, Avia Ashok Leyland Motors s.r.o. has been part of the Hinduja Group, alongside the second largest vehicle manufacturer in India, Ashok Leyland. Backed by a strong corporation (9 production plants and operations in over 30 countries on three continents), Avia has begun reconquering global markets and expanding its product portfolio. The production of AVIA Ashok Leyland Motors focuses on the class of trucks with a total weight from 6.5 to 12 tonnes. The trucks appeal to customers thanks to their high endurance and excellent driving control, variability of options, and low operating costs. In 2011, the Letňany manufacturing plant produced 600 trucks for markets in Europe, the United States, and Asia. In the last year, Avia Ashok Leyland Motors’ revenues from sales and services reached CZK 425 million (growth of 34% compared to 2010) and the company had 208 employees as of 31 December 2011.
